B2B Testing, Trials, and Errors ... A Mighty
Foe?
By Chip Tarver
Are you a perfectionist? (Or are you just afraid?)
If so, you're in trouble ... if you're a marketer, or you’re trying
to generate your own public relations.
Why?
Because 'paralysis-by-analysis' will stop you cold, prevent
you from achieving much of anything, and put more pressure
on you than you can stand.
Marketers test.
Marketers fail.
Marketers succeed.
Understand that ...
The trick is knowing which is which, and not being afraid
to 'try something.' Trial and error is your friend ...
Every test you do will teach you something. Try it. They
all either pass or fail, too, because there is no middle
ground, sort of like a 'maybe.'
And tests all get you closer to your ultimate success. When
a test bombs, it's an experiment - not a failure ...
Afraid to write articles? Get someone else to do it for you,
and send your (their) article around for publication.
Don't know how to set up your blog? Go to my site at
http://www.Free-Targeted-Traffic.com and get my free pdf
titled "Exactly how to have your own free blog set up and
hosted in 3 minutes or less -- The how-to guide you can't
go wrong using."
Afraid of pay-per-click? Open an account for five bucks and
throw the money away. It's very liberating because it releases
you from that dungeon of doubt.
Afraid of email marketing? Do it any way. If only 1/3 of your
emails get through and get opened, that's a lot more than
if you did nothing ...
Scared to talk to people on the phone? Start out by calling
people you don't know ... who might have an interest in your
call (but might not) ... and practice telling them why you're
calling. It's about benefits for them - not you.
Frankly, it matters not what paralyzes you.
It's the old 'Get back on the horse' lesson. But for you,
it might just be 'Get on that horse the first time.'
When you're marketing - experiment with the 'little fish' -
not the big whales. If you blow it - so what?
These things work in your regular marketing as
well as
in your self-generated public relations ...
When you're just starting out getting your own public
relations, start with small local media outfits instead
of trying to get on Oprah. Establish yourself as a
trusted resource and be patient.
Your 'competition' for local coverage is much lower, they
have the same news needs as bigger outlets, and you already
intimately understand their audience (it's you.)
The rest of it will take care of itself.
