
My First Choice
Ultimately, my first choice is to meet a potential long-term JV partner in
person.
I
like it when people come up to me and introduce themselves.
I’m a bottom-line kind of person, so if they have something on their
mind, I like them to get to the point and say it clearly right away.
That
said, I advise the reader not to just walk up to someone and try to shove some
idea down his or her throat.
Instead,
do it in a tactful and efficient manner.
That’s the way I like it.
A Story for You
Let
me tell you a recent story from Carl Galletti’s seminar that I spoke at a
couple of months ago. A fellow did
exactly what I just described as the approach I like.
He
came up to me, shook my hand, introduced himself, and handed me a t-shirt.
It was kind of funny, actually. It
had a sarcastic saying on the back about Internet gurus, which I thought was
pretty cool.
I
myself, and most other presenters I know, don’t consider ourselves as gurus,
so I liked that joke on the shirt. It
said something like, ‘Approach with Caution – Internet Guru at Work.’
He
gave the shirt to me about 15 minutes before I was to go onstage to speak about
Joint Ventures.
His approach was this. He simply said, “Look – I just want your attention for two minutes.” So I said, “Sure.” Then he presented his elevator speech, which described exactly what he was doing and ...
