Have you ever tried to pick someone up because you thought they were cute or attractive?  Has anyone ever tried to pick you up because they found something about you attractive?

How about taking the approach of picking someone up in a social setting and using that same strategy to attract the business contacts you’re looking for?

Let me tell you what happened to me...

I was on the subway in New York City and had gotten off at my usual stop to go to my apartment on the Upper West side.  As I was walking, I detected someone’s footsteps getting louder and heard a well-dressed man saying hello to me.  I said hello back to him and we started to talk.  He told me that he had noticed me on the subway and he had to say hello and introduce himself.

In the past, I might have ignored a guy like this because he was a complete stranger.  But because I was single at the time, thought he was attractive, and liked his approach, I started to talk with him.  He had approached me in an easy-going manner, with a nice smile, and a pleasant voice.  We started to talk about living in Manhattan and what we did for a living.

Gradually, I began to feel more comfortable —actually, impressed—with him, and I praised him for approaching me. I told him that most people never take a chance to meet someone new because they’re too scared of rejection. 

He agreed. 

I later learned that this guy had gone out of his way to say hello because he usually got off the subway 30 blocks away!  


Anyone can do it

This approach taught me that ANYONE can be successful at meeting people, whether it be personal or business — if they know the correct strategies to follow.
