high-energy people.
I
also love the book “Love is a Killer App” by Tim Sanders, the
Director of Marketing for Yahoo. It’s
a great book that’s readily available at all the national bookstores.
I
am just so busy. There a lot of
things I would really like to do that I don’t have time to do.
That’s just the truth …
If
a stranger approaches me about a Joint Venture solicitation, it’s a little
tough when I don’t have any background on them. Plus, I get a lot of solicitations every day simply because I
have a huge newsletter subscriber database.
Here’s
a story about one person who recently approached me (who shall remain
anonymous.) He sent me a fax
twice. The headline was powerful
and caught my attention.
If
it wasn’t email, I would have thought it was just hype.
This observation might be interesting coming from the perspective of a
Master Listbuilder and a marketing coach … but the truth is that I prefer a
multi-media type of marketing.
In
our book, Mining Offline Gold With An Online Shovel, we espouse doing
‘shovel’ promotions, which means using offline tools to build your online
list.
One
of the best offline tools is your fax machine.
I prefer fax or phone approaches from strangers. And, either method must
contain at least some message about the sender. It should tell me who they are and they should introduce
themselves properly to capture my attention.
If
someone just approaches me by email alone … well, I get several hundred emails
each day. It can be very hard to
distinguish the ‘real ones’ from the ‘just curious’ emails.
So
to approach me, telephone or fax is the best way.
Another
aspect to consider in approaching me is that I love to be approached at seminars
and live events, for instance by a person who is the audience whom I have not
previously met.
